The music box sound is produced by the large disc slowly turning and the metal tongues plucking the reeds at the back. The burred walnut case surrounding the polyphon reflects the lovely antique style of the day.

The cabinet on which the polyphon stands is made of attractive, side-grain oak and was originally a sewing machine cabinet, but now contains many delightful discs. Cabriole legs were fitted by Lloyd Whittaker.
