XylophoneMade by: J C Deagon, Chicago
Made in: 1915
The instrument consists of a graduated series of bars of hardwood (ours is rosewood). There are metal resonators underneath each bar which increase and enhances the sound.
It is played with two sticks or sometimes four (two in each hand). These sticks have a ball on the end, wooden or some other material to alter the tone. They are used in orchestras, bands and even solos.
Donated by Waiheke Rotary Club.
