Dulcitone
Made by: Thomas Machell & Sons, Glasgow
Made in: 1900
This instrument has no strings, instead metal pieces in the shape of tuning forks are mounted on springs attached to the soundboard. A felt covered hammer action strikes the tuning forks, producing a sound like a celeste. It even has a sustaining pedal. The attractive oak body and barley twist legs make this instrument special. Still very popular today after one hundred years!
