The past few years we’ve enjoyed concerts with top student musicians from the University of Auckland’s Classical Performance degree. This year is no different. Our August Live @ Five Classical Series welcomes Kaha Trio – Madeleine Xiao (piano), Jesse Oh (violin), and Damon Herlihy-O’Brien (cello).
The trio met last year through the Chiron Group of music schools and they perform regularly across Auckland and its wider regions. This year they were fortunate enough to become members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s Aspiring Musicians program.
Their programme is a treat of solo and trio pieces. A varied and enjoyable concert.
Programme:
Bach – Cello Suite No.5 in C minor, BWV 1011 – Prelude (Damon)
Beethoven – Piano Sonata No.24 in F-sharp major (Jesse)
Chopin – Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante Op.22 (Madeleine)
Brahms – Piano Trio No.1 in B major, Mvt 1 (Trio)
(10 min interval)
Liebermann – Gargoyles Op.29 No.4 (Madeleine)
Schumann – Adagio and Allegro, Op.70, Mvmt 1 (Damon)
Debussy – Voiles (Jesse)
Babadjanian – Piano Trio in f-sharp minor, Mvt II and III (Trio)
It’s wonderful to continue to support these talented music students who are Aotearoa New Zealand’s future professional classical musicians. Please wear a mask inside the museum. Thank you.
