Come and help senior students from Saint Kentigern College get further experience performing to an audience before they perform to judges of the highly regarded NZCT Chamber Music Contest.
Since its inception in 1965, this annual contest has provided a platform for thousands of Kiwi secondary school students to perform. For many young musicians this is their first experience of chamber ensemble performance and the Contest acts as a springboard for the musicians and composers of tomorrow, encouraging participants at all stages of their musical development, to perform together and enjoy the thrill of making music.
Saint Kentigern’s Music Department is known for its musical excellence at both regional and national level. Over the last few years they’ve had great success with their chamber music programme. The School provides wonderful opportunities for their top musicians, and performing at Whittakers Musical Museum is a good example of this.
There are 15 music students performing in six groups, playing a range of instruments such as clarinets, cellos and a harp. Composers include Minas Borboudakis, Philippe Gaubert, Robert Muczynski, Weber, and Paul Schoenfeld.
Please wear a mask when inside the museum. Thank you.
