The Orchestrion.
Orchestrion

This automatic piano-orchestra dates from the early 1920's when it was constructed as a player piano or pianola.

The extra instruments were added to re-create an antique orchestrion or nickelodeon.

This instrument plays piano, 24 note glockenspiel, bass and snare drums, triangle, cymbal, tambourine and woodblock.

The orchestrion plays music from paper rolls re-creating original music arrangements from the past. There are also modern arrangements of more recent music.

From the late 19th century until the 1920's orchestrions and nickelodeons were heard in restaurants. hotels, penny arcades, sporting houses and barber shops.

Drop a coin in the slot to hear the genuine sounds of yesterday.
